PetSafe is an app that quickly scans plants and foods that could potentially harm your pet.

This Privacy Policy explains how PetSafe (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our mobile application. PetSafe is designed to help users scan plants and foods to determine potential toxicity risks for pets. We value your privacy and strive to collect as little information as possible.

1. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
PetSafe does not collect, store, or require the following:
Name, Email, phone number, address, age or birthdate, location information, user account or login data, payment information (all payments are processed through the Apple App Store), device identifiers linked to your identity, advertising identifiers, analytics data, and/or photos or images stored on your device.
PetSafe does not maintain profiles, track users, or sell any data.
2. INFORMATION WE TEMPORARILY PROCESS
While we do not store any information, PetSafe must temporarily process certain data so the app can function.
2.1 Images You Scan
When you take or upload a photo of a plant or food item to analyze:
The image is converted into a secure data format (Base64).
It is sent to our Firebase Cloud Function.
The Firebase Cloud Function forwards the image to OpenAI’s API for toxicity analysis.
The image is not stored on Firebase or on our servers.
The image is not saved inside the app after the analysis is complete.
PetSafe does not retain any copy of your scanned image.
2.2 Temporary Processing by OpenAI
OpenAI may temporarily retain submitted data, including images, for up to 30 days only for the purpose of abuse prevention and system monitoring.OpenAI does not use this data to train models or build user profiles.For more information, please review OpenAI’s privacy policies.
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
PetSafe uses the following third-party services strictly to process AI results:
3.1 Firebase (Google)
Used only to run a serverless Cloud Function that forwards your image to the AI model. We do not use Firebase Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, Firestore, or Storage.
3.2 OpenAI
Used to analyze the scanned image and generate toxicity information. OpenAI may retain data temporarily for up to 30 days as part of its abuse monitoring procedures.
PetSafe does not control how third-party providers handle their retention policies, but we only transmit the minimum data required to produce toxicity results.
4. NO DATA STORAGE
PetSafe does not store:
Scanned images, toxicity analysis results, device information, user identifiers, logs containing user content.
All data is processed in real-time and immediately discarded after results are delivered to the app.
5. SUBSCRIPTIONS & PAYMENTS
PetSafe offers optional subscription services:
• Monthly Subscription: $4.99
• Annual Subscription: $29.99
• Optional 3-day free trial
All subscription payments and billing information are handled exclusively by Apple through your App Store account. PetSafe does not receive, collect, or store any payment information
You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple account settings.
6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
PetSafe does not collect personal information from any users, including children.
The app is safe for users of all ages, but it is designed for adult pet owners.
7. DATA SECURITY
Although we do not store any personal data, we take reasonable steps to secure the information temporarily transmitted to our systems during processing.
This includes:
• HTTPS encryption
• Secure Firebase execution environment
• No persistent logs containing user content
• No long-term storage of scanned images
8. DATA DELETION POLICY
Because PetSafe does not store any user data, there is no retained information to delete.

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the App. By downloading, accessing, or using PetSafe, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. ELIGIBILITY
You must be at least 18 years old to use PetSafe. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
PetSafe provides plant and food toxicity analysis for pet safety by allowing users to:
• Scan plants and foods
• Receive toxicity assessments
• View symptom information
• Understand potential health risks for pets
• Access AI-generated toxicity analysis
The App provides general informational content only and does not offer veterinary or medical advice.
3. NO VETERINARY OR MEDICAL ADVICE
PetSafe is NOT a substitute for professional veterinary care, diagnosis, or treatment. Toxicity assessments are informational only.
You understand and agree:
• The App may be inaccurate or incomplete.
• Toxicity results may not be reliable in emergency situations.
• You must not rely solely on the App to make decisions about your pet’s health.
• Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical concerns.
• In case of suspected poisoning or symptoms, seek immediate veterinary care.
You assume all responsibility for actions based on information provided by the App.
4. AI-GENERATED CONTENT
PetSafe uses third-party AI (OpenAI) to analyze scanned images and generate toxicity information.
You acknowledge and agree:
• AI-generated results may contain inaccuracies.
• The App does not guarantee correctness, completeness, or reliability.
• You will not hold the App or its developers liable for errors, incorrect assessments, or misleading content.
5. IMAGE PROCESSING & DATA HANDLING
PetSafe does not collect or store personal information.
When you scan an image:
• The photo is temporarily processed within the App.
• The image is converted into a secure Base64 format.
• The Base64 image is sent to a Firebase Cloud Function.
• The Cloud Function forwards it to OpenAI for analysis.
• Neither PetSafe nor Firebase permanently stores the image.
• The App does not store results or user data.
OpenAI may temporarily retain submitted data for up to 30 days solely for abuse monitoring, per their standard retention policies.
By using the App, you consent to this temporary processing.
6. USER RESPONSIBILITIES
You agree not to:
• Use the App for any illegal purpose
• Upload harmful, abusive, or infringing content
• Reverse-engineer or modify the App
• Attempt to access or interfere with backend systems
• Use the App to identify substances for illegal use
• Misrepresent the App as a medical device or diagnostic tool
• Rely on the App for real-time emergency evaluation
7. SUBSCRIPTION TERMS
PetSafe offers optional subscription services through the Apple App Store:

Subscriptions provide:
• Unlimited scan plants and foods for toxicity
• Instant toxicity assessment
• Full symptom list for each toxic item
• Guidance on when urgent veterinary care may be needed
• Confidence score for every scan
• VetTech AI - Virtual assistance• Edible item search
Billing is handled exclusively by Apple.
7.1 Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
7.2 Free Trials
If you do not cancel before your trial ends, you will be charged the subscription fee.
7.3 Managing Subscriptions
You are responsible for managing your subscription through your Apple account settings.
7.4 No Refunds
All billing inquiries and refund requests must be handled through Apple.
8. NO WARRANTY / SERVICE AVAILABILITY
PetSafe is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
We do not warrant that:
• The App will be accurate, reliable, or error-free
• The App will meet your expectations
• Toxicity results will be medically correct
• The App will be uninterrupted or available at all times
• AI analysis will be consistent or free from misinterpretation
Use the App at your own risk.
9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
• We are not liable for any injury, pet harm, illness, death, or damages resulting from use or misuse of the App.
• We are not responsible for decisions you make based on AI-generated content.
• We are not liable for inaccuracies, errors, delays, or omissions in toxicity analysis.
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Your sole remedy is to stop using the App.
10. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
You acknowledge that the App uses third-party services including:
• Firebase (Google)
• OpenAI
• Apple App Store billing
These providers operate under their own terms and policies. PetSafe is not responsible for their actions, retention policies, or service disruptions.
11. TERMINATION
We may suspend or terminate your access to PetSafe at any time, with or without cause, and without prior notice.
You may stop using the App at any time.
12. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any disputes will be handled in courts located in British Columbia.
13. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
The latest version will always be available from within the App or on our website if applicable.
